Gymnastic World Naples is home to one of the most highly respected and well-recognized competitive gymnastic team programs in Southwest Florida. We pride ourselves in our close attention to detail and impeccable form in the routines we present at competitions. We believe that any gymnast willing to make the commitment to a competitive team deserves coaching that will help them reach their fullest potential.
Our current competitive teams practice between 4 and 16 hours a week, depending on their current competitive level. These athletes’ hard work is physically rewarded at each competition with trophies, medals, ribbons and banners.
Our competitive teams are by invitation only. We offer evaluations from our recreational program as well as potential transfers from other facilities. This way we can determine if your athlete is a good fit for our program, as well as what level they will find the most success in. The criteria we assess is based on physical performance, mental toughness and behavioral evaluations.
PROGRAMS WE OFFER
JUNIOR OLYMPIC PROGRAM
The Junior Olympic Program (JO) is divided into three major segments; developmental, compulsory, and optional.
Developmental Pre-Team
Developmental pre-team is designed for young girls with physical qualities above and beyond the norm with the potential to compete advanced levels of gymnastics. The purpose of pre-team is ultimately to become a member of our competitive team, but the focus is always on having great FUN. Members of pre-team will learn skills that will become a solid foundation in their preparation to become successful competitive gymnasts.
Compulsory
Level 1:
In Level 1, students develop the key essential building blocks for their future gymnastic careers. This level is non-competition based. Promotion through this level is determined by the mastering of specific skill sets on each event. The goal of Level 1 is to gain strength and flexibility; body awareness; knowledge and understanding of basic skills on each event; while still having fun and making friends in the process!
Level 2 – 5:
Level 2-5 is considered the Compulsory levels by USA Gymnastics. At these levels, all gymnasts across the country are taught the same skills and routines designated by the USAG Compulsory Handbook. Level 2 is the first level at which your gymnast will be entered into competitions. Gymnasts will compete in each event – Vault, Uneven bars, Balance Beam and Floor – and then receive awards.
The details that the USAG Compulsory Program requires are important because it’s the necessary foundation to build into the highest level of gymnastics. The skills and techniques an athlete learns in Level 2 are just as important what they will be doing in Level 10. At Gymnastics World Naples, we pay close attention to these details because we are committed to building a strong foundation.
Optional
Level 6 & Up:
Levels 6-10 is known as Optional gymnastics. At each level, the athlete must meet certain requirements per the Code of Points. Gymnasts are able to use a variety of skills that best fit their abilities, as long as requirements are met. Each gymnast has their own personally choreographed routine for Balance Beam and Floor to allow their personalities to shine. This is a fun freedom that comes with the commitment of Optional gymnastics.
While achieving the necessary skills at these advanced levels is very difficult, with a lot of hard work and dedication, gymnasts may eventually work towards obtaining a College Scholarship. If your athlete or your family is interested in the process of obtaining a Collegiate Scholarship or walk-on position, our coaches would be happy to answer any questions!
XCEL PROGRAM
The Xcel Program is an optional program that runs alongside the JO program. There are five divisions in the program including: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. There is no mobility from the Xcel Program into the JO Program, but the Xcel Program offers some unique features. The routines are optional so coaches will select skills that accentuate what the students do well. As a result of this, gymnasts often have the opportunity to compete sooner and more often.
New & Visiting Athletes
New Athletes/Transfers
